Debbie Thiede, Adult Formation
Has been the Adult Formation Director at St. Robert since August 15, 2001, and especially loves leading the RCIA process because she, herself, fell in love with the Catholic faith after being received into the Church in 1983. Before coming to St. Robert, Debbie worked as the Pastoral Minister at her home parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns, and before that, was a “full-time volunteer” for several years, as well as a stay-at-home mom.
Debbie has a Bachelor’s degree in English and Journalism from Central Michigan and earned a Teaching Certificate from Michigan State University. During her years of volunteer work, two priests with whom she closely worked advised her to discern a call to parish ministry, so she began taking theology courses through the Diocese of Lansing and attending workshops and conferences at Franciscan University of Steubenville.
Along with her RCIA director responsibilities, Debbie is responsible for Baptism preparation and liturgical minister training, oversight of ministry to the Homebound, all adult programming at St. Robert, and she functions as a procurator/advocate for declarations of nullity for the Diocese of Lansing. She is married to Pat, and the mother of two grown children, Patrick and Katie, both married.
Nick Pobocik, Youth Minister
Nick believes it is a great gift to be the youth minister at St. Robert Bellarmine Parish. Nick is a 2004 graduate of Powers Catholic High School and a 2008 graduate of Ferris State University. He received his Bachelors degree in Elementary Education. After teaching for two years in a public school, Nick felt the Lord calling him to work within the context of a Catholic school. To make a long story short, Nick ended up applying for a Masters in Theology and is now a Distance Learning student at Franciscan University of Steubenville. Here at St. Robert, Nick has the opportunity to teach our Catholic faith to the 8th grade students in the school, as well as leading the high school youth ministry program, and coordinating the Newman Center in downtown Flint.
Nick and his wife, Rachel, have been happily married since July 2012 and are expecting their first child in spring 2013. They currently live near downtown Flint and feel convicted that is where the Lord desires them to begin their marriage together.

After graduating from college, Hannah worked as an office manager at a parish, where she discovered great joy working for the church. As a catechist in St. Robert’s Religious Education program, Hannah found an immense love for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS), which is a Catholic catechesis program rooted in the Bible, the liturgy of the church, and the principles of Maria Montessori. She can see the power of the Holy Spirit moving through this program at St. Robert and now as the Assistant to the Director of Religious Education, Hannah has abundant opportunity to continue to work extensively in CGS.
