Notes from Father Gordon ~ January 31st 2016

Fr Gordon Reigle“The word of the LORD came to me, saying: Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I dedicated you, a prophet to the nations I appointed you.”

We are so loved!

From the beginning of creation, time and space, the Lord has known us and loved us.

Like the prophet Jeremiah, we have been given a mission to make the Kingdom of God visible in our world by our words and deeds.

But before we act on behalf of the Lord, we need to be touched by God’s mercy and love first, for we can’t give what we don’t have.

As we reflect on the many gifts we have received, may the Holy Spirit enkindle the flame of divine love in our hearts, and may that experience of unconditional love inspire us to care for those around us.

As I mentioned in last Sunday’s homily, a good way to fuel the fire of divine love in our hearts is to listen to the Word of God daily.

Scripture is like a love letter from God.

Whether we read the missalette before Mass or follow the daily readings via MyParishApp  http://myparishapp.com/  on our smart devices, let us take the time to encounter Jesus, the Word of God, and let him speak to our hearts.

May God bless you all!

– Fr. Gordon
