Notes from Father Gordon ~ February 21st 2016

Fr Gordon ReigleWhile he was still speaking, a cloud came and cast a shadow over them, and they became frightened when they entered the cloud. Then from the cloud came a voice that said, “This is my chosen Son; listen to him.”

Today’s Gospel recounts the story of the Transfiguration of Jesus.

Peter, James and John are privileged to see a glimpse of Jesus’ glory.

This encouragement will help them to persevere through the tough times ahead as Jesus will be arrested, sentenced, executed and buried before rising on Easter Sunday.

As we look at the blessings in our lives, may these signs of God’s mercy and providence strengthen us through the times of suffering and uncertainty.

For all who took a copy of Matthew Kelly’s new book, Rediscover Jesus, I hope that this simple daily reflection is helping to nourish your relationship with Jesus.

It is so easy to take relationships for granted, but we certainly don’t want that to happen with our spiritual lives.

I encourage you all to keep up with the daily readings and sign-up for further content at http://dynamiccatholic.com/bestlentever/.

This weekend is our Diocesan Services Appeal (DSA) Commitment Weekend.

I invite all members of our parish community to join in support of our annual appeal.

Our St. Robert parish goal is $98,566 this year.

No gift is too small…every dollar donated helps us meet, and even exceed, our parish goal.

Our world desperately needs us to continue shining the Light of Christ; thank you for making that happen by your generosity and good stewardship!

You may submit your DSA pledge envelope during Mass this weekend or take your DSA envelope home, prayerfully consider your gift amount, and return your completed pledge form, in the DSA envelope, to our parish office.

I encourage every one of our parish households to reflect on the many blessings we have received from the Lord and share these blessings through a generous gift to the DSA.

May God bless you all!

– Fr. Gordon
