Dear St. Robert School Community,
As most of you know, we work in collaboration with Flushing Community Schools to provide transportation (busing) services for many of our students. On Thursday, August 11, 2016, I learned that Flushing Community Schools made a decision to delay their start time by 20 minutes for all three levels (Elementary, Middle School, & High School). Studies have shown that more sleep is critical to improving children’s alertness, memory, and learning and their decision to delay the start of the school day reflects what is best for kids.
In response, St. Robert School is moving forward with adjusting our start time and end time by 15 minutes respectively. This minor adjustment will ensure that we are achieving the same level of efficiency and continuity with respect to our established busing runs as provided by Flushing Community Schools.
As such, we will be officially starting the school day at 7:45 a.m. and ending at 2:31 p.m. Drop-off and pick-up procedures as outlined in your Back-to- School Letter will remain intact with minor time shifts as noted below.
Children may not be dropped off before 7:15 a.m. for liability reason.
School begins at 7:45 a.m. Students who arrive at 7:45 a.m. are considered late.
No other students other than bus riders are permitted to enter via the Henry St. doors prior to 7:45 a.m.
Car Riders (Drop-Offs) may be dropped off starting at 7:15 a.m. at the South School entrance and will be allowed to proceed up the stairs and to their classrooms beginning at 7:30 a.m.
The stairway entrance will be locked at 7:45 a.m.
We-Three’s (Tues/Thur) and Morning Pre-K (Mon/Wed/Fri) will start at 7:45 a.m. and end at 10:30 a.m.
Afternoon Pre-K (Mon-Fri) schedule will not change.
Junior Kindergarten pick up will be at 11:30 a.m. near Mary’s Room at the southschool entrance.
School dismisses at 2:31 p.m.
