The Bishop's Council on Alcohol and Other Drugs serves the people of the Diocese of Lansing. Under the auspices of the Diocesan Assistance Program (DAP), the Bishop's Council "serves...as a spiritual and physical resource to inform, educate and support the healing of individuals and families; and provide community referrals and encourage reconciliation with God."

If you would like further information about assistance programs and resources, please visit
www.bcoaod.catholicweb.com. If you or anyone you know needs assistance confronting drug or alcohol dependency, contact program director Bob Laprad at rlaprad@dioceseoflansing.org or call the diocesan office at 1-877-342-2513.

An Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) support group meets at St. Robert Bellarmine School in Room 16 on the following days: Sundays at 10:00 a.m., Tuesdays at 7 p.m., and
Fridays at 7 p.m. To find out exactly where the meeting room is located, call the
school at: 810-659-2503. The Al-Anon support group (for family members of
Alcoholics) meets at the same time (7 p.m.) on Tuesdays and Fridays in the school
library.

Family Support Information
The family remains the best resource for prevention, early detection, recovery, and
treatment of chemical abuse. Families need help to become aware of the early signs
of substance abuse and effective techniques for intervention.
Many types of intervention are available to help individuals who are at-risk or
suffering from the effects of substance abuse. Effective intervention also helps
family members begin their own recovery. The family must be involved in the
treatment process and in effective follow-up after formal treatment is completed and
the recovering addict returns to the community.
