The
Knights of Columbus, founded by Father Michael J.
McGivney at Saint Mary’s Church in New Haven,
Connecticut in 1892, is the world’s largest Catholic,
family, fraternal, service organization with 1.6 million
members around the world.
The Flushing Knights of Columbus Council
#8489 was chartered in 1984. The Council has grown and
currently has 192 members who are dedicated to
supporting the Catholic Church, the clergy, vocations,
and Catholic values and teachings. As a service
organization, the Flushing Council has distinguished
itself in support of Saint Robert Parish through
a wide range of service and charitable programs and
activities.
Knights of Columbus programs support the
unborn, youth, the family and the elderly as well as
persons with physical and mental disabilities. As a
fraternal organization, the Knights of Columbus provides
Catholic men the opportunity to work together, share
good times together and grow in our faith together. The
Knights of Columbus support a multimillion dollar
Scholarship and Student Loan programs for members and
their children pursuing higher education, and vocation
scholarships for seminarians. In addition, the Knights
of Columbus insurance program is ranked in the top 6% of
insurance companies in
North America
with more than $43 billion of insurance in force.
